Periodontal Gum Disease
Gum disease as it is more commonly known is the most prevalent disease today. Bleeding gums when flossing or brushing is a classic sign. Gum disease has been linked to cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and many other systemic diseases. It also accounts for the majority of teeth lost today. Our patients receive a through evaluation of the health of their gums and teeth at each cleaning appointment. Our hygienists are highly skilled and very knowledgeable. If treatment is indicated we use a non-surgical procedure in most cases. We also utilize a "soft tissue" laser for more advanced conditions. Don’t hesitate to call for an evaluation – you will be happy you did.
PREVENTIVE CARE & GUM TREATMENT
We feel one of the most important services we offer is that of preventive care. Regular check-ups and recall appointments are the key to good oral health. More and more studies are demonstrating the relationship between gum disease and systemic disease. Diabetes, heart disease and inflammatory conditions are all linked to periodontal disease (gum disease). Thorough cleanings, “pocket” screenings, and necessary radiographs are utilized to keep your mouth healthy. If problems exist, non-surgical treatments are usually done. We also use laser therapy when indicated.
